The Circle is a creative documentation of a storytelling circle held in Vancouver with a group of formerly incarcerated women. Some had just been released and were living in halfway houses, some had been outside for several years, all had a story to tell.
Carceral systems freeze a woman in time, surveying, penalizing and knowing her only through the event of her crime.
Our circle challenges the time of incarceration with the non-linear time of memory, healing and sisterhood.
